What will students learn?
Students will learn a new way of experiencing music, movement and teamwork through ballroom dancing. They will be introduced to basic ballroom step patterns, technique and musicality. The dances covered will be the elegant Waltz, the strong Tango, the cheeky Cha Cha and the energetic Jive. Students will also learn partnering and teamwork skills as they learn how to dance not only by themselves but also with a partner.
Please note that classes may not be gender balanced or perfectly paired in numbers. Students will learn to dance solo as well as in partnership with same-gender students. Throughout the program, partnerships will mix and change to give all students an opportunity to experience partner based dancing.
Will students have an opportunity to perform?
All graduating students will be encouraged to perform in a non-competitive category open only to the class at Sunday Funday. The event will be held on June 14th at the Beth Israel Hall on 28th Ave and Oak St. Participation at Sunday Funday is not mandatory. Students who decide not to dance are welcome to attend the event as spectators.
Specialized ballroom dance costumes and dance shoes are not required to participate at Sunday Funday. More information about Sunday Funday and associated costs will be given out once classes begin.

Sometimes students need a little extra attention so they can jump to the next level. That’s very common, and we’re here to help! JC Dance Co offers private dance lessons for all dancers, no matter what age or ability level. Private lessons kids are $60, and can be for either an individual student, or two students in a couple. Email us directly to book a private lesson for your son or daughter.
